It's been 10 years since the previous EK Bird Checklist was published and we have added several new species, gotten more data on seasonal occurrence, had several official name changes, and we were down to our last few 2016 checklists so it was time for an update!
Our species count has changed from 303 species to 337 (but because of splits, lumps, and name changes the actual number of new species is challenging to calculate). The most recent addition was a singing male Northern Parula spotted by J.F. in May 2026 (which I also saw and it just happened to be my 500th official lifer!).
The new checklist has also added the following features:
- list of some interesting birding areas
- the 4-letter codes of bird names from the Institute for Bird Populations at time of publishing (there have already been some name changes)
- the species at risk designation (Red = Endangered or Threatened, Blue = Vulnerable or At Risk) from the BC Conservation Data Centre
The price will remain the same at $2.00 - a bargain! A PDF version can be available upon request.
Enjoy!
