The new weir structure at Elizabeth Lake is approachable from either side but is best accessed from the improvised boardwalks on either side till water level drops a little more.  The steel structure to the East does sit lower as my key is completely submerged at almost 2 inches and I'm guessing the structure to the West is just under 1/2 inch still.  The culvert at Wattsville is still below water but that should change tomorrow provided the flow through the culvert is not reduced further.  I noticed that the water level at the culvert below highway 3 was about 1 to 2 inches lower than yesterday which suggests that the flow through the Wattsville culvert is set slightly lower on weekends?

I'm hoping to borrow an old brush/broom from George to give the wooden bridge a good scrub as it's covered in slime and weed and is hazardous.  I'm also ready to paint over the graffiti at the concrete hide which is now clear of water and is being visited by members of the public.  All it will take is some (grey?) paint, a roller and tray.  Although trails affected by water need maintenance, that is going to be a huge job that will require a lot of volunteers, additional materials and funding(?), which George has organized previously.  Given the enormity of the task ahead, that may be best left till next year?

I wonder if the City has a plan in mind for the time when the water level drops to the bottom of the culvert (in a week or two?) because the top of the new weir will still be about 8 inches below that?

Birding at Elizabeth Lake the other day and was wondering how is Elizabeth Lake going to look when the water does go down and all of the floating islands are left along the north and and in front of the turtle nesting grounds?  This is a picture of the dipping dock.
